Another celebrity divorce highlights difficulties of getting along

While for many Illinois residents it may seem that celebrities remain in the news due to what many would consider overly dramatic lives, or perhaps just overly scrutinized lives, America just can’t seem to get enough of celebrity divorces. Unfortunately for most that have gone through the process, the celebrity version is not that far off from real life, only perhaps with the exception of the money and assets involved.

Bethenny Frankel, star of “Bethenny Ever After,” filed for divorce from her estranged husband Jason Hoppy just before Christmas last year. Since that time, she has said that she hopes that it can be resolved amicably and with their two-year-old daughter Bryn’s best interests at heart. That hope may be stretched a bit thin now that Jason has requested primary child custody in response to Bethenny’s filed divorce documents.

It appears that many of the requests placed by Bethenny in the filed documents have been copied in one way or another as Jason is requesting many of the same medical, dental, and life insurance coverage as well as competing for primary child custody. Bethenny has moved out of the primary residence that remains in Jason’s control, but may be further financially protected through the prenuptial agreement the two signed prior to their 2010 wedding.

If you or a loved one are struggling through the difficulties of legal separation and looking at ways to protect yourself during the divorce process, please make sure that you consult with a family law attorney. Their skills and knowledge will enable you to feel confident that your best interests will be protected and advocated for throughout the process.
